That's good news. I like going over to Spartanburg to shop more than Woodruff Rd. This will be helpful, especially when they open Lidl over there. Now, if only they'd get a Trader Joe's in this area, I wouldn't ever have to go on Woodruff!

I wonder if Lidl's plans for two stores in Spartanburg is a reason why Aldi is moving forward with another store. Spartanburg's west side will have limited assortment/discount grocery options.

The new Co-Op is open in downtown beside Papa's Breakfast Nook on East Saint John Street, near the Chapman Cultural Center

I love their selection. It's like a mini Whole Foods. Check it out

I wonder if they will consider a Harris Teeter for Spartanburg as they prepare to re-enter the Upstate with 2 stores in Greenville? Looks like they would seek to infill the region. I know of one nice Publix in Spartanburg, and another in Duncan. So there may be room for another competitor in the upscale sector.

Harris Teeter had a 14-year run in Spartanburg. I do not know if its return to Greenville may open opportunities to return to Spartanburg. I do not know if Kroger would like to enter Spartanburg through Harris Teeter, through Kroger Marketplace hypermarket stores in the Kroger Atlanta division, or through the acquisition of an existing supermarket participant with store count, market share, and concentration in food, pharmacy and fuel.

Publix should have more than two stores in Spartanburg County. I think a Publix store is planned at Northpointe Village in Boiling Springs.

Dollar General also operates a market store in Pacolet. A discount grocer called Banana Box Market also recently opened there.
