I was not aware the Walmart for Cherrydale has fell through. This is a major development and will be interesting to see what transpires for this location.
I have not heard anything of Walmart Supercenter #6223 being cancelled. Walmart is likely being selective on the quanity and where new Neighborhood Market and Supercenter stores open.

Giant Eagle has stores in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. I do not currently foresee them moving further south. Meanwhile, as Ahold completes its merger with Delhaize, it appears they currently plan to maintain the Food Lion brand. So it is unlikely to see a Giant supermarket in this region, either Landover or Carlisle. Which is a bit perplexing as both Giant divisions seem to be the better brand, but they are closing some of those overlapping stores in Virginia, as well as the Martin's division, while keeping the Food Lions open. It will be interesting to see if they try again to expand the Food Lion brand in the Upstate region, as they have instituted yet another upgrade.
ATL your persistence has paid off with your concern for the old Feed and Seed down past Dale's. As the plans for the Willy Taco have been officially announced and sound very promising for that location. It was good of you to consistently call attention to this neglected site, which is now being successfully revitalized.
Well it will be interesting to see if Food Lion attempts again to add stores in the Upstate. They had limited success with a few stores in certain areas, but struggled for the most part and almost pulled out. Perhaps they will reevaluate after the merger with Ahold and Delhaize is completed.

Food Lion and Bloom failed in Anderson, Greenville, Laurens, Pickens, Spartanburg, and Union counties. Food Lion's remaining stores in Anderson, Cherokee, Greenville, Greenwood, Oconee, and Spartanburg are likely hanging on by a hair.
