Was it ever a Food Town, the previous name of Food Lion? The name change occurred around 1983. The store must have closed in the middle 1980's for Community Cash to open.

Food Town. I think the Greer and Easley Food Towns were sold to Community Cash in '83/84.

The Food Town in Greer had to be the former Community Cash and Grocery Outlet at Piedmont Plaza, now Piedmont Marketplace, 1318 West Wade Hampton Boulevard, Greer, South Carolina 29650-1119.

Were there any other Food Town locations within Greenville County or across upstate South Carolina?

There were 2 in Spartanburg. One in the old K Mart Foods store ( the aisles were "parallel" to the store front)on Pine Street, the other was a newly constructed store on Fernwood Glendale Rd.

I think you answered my question to the grocery tenant at Cedar Village, 1451 Fernwood Glendale Road, Spartanburg, South Carolina 29307-3044.

I know Ingle's Markets had at 1475 Fernwood Glendale Road, Spartanburg, South Carolina 29307-3046 behind the current Kangaroo Express #1505. The store has been demolished. I do not know what store number this Ingle's Markets store was. I do not know if it was the original store 38 (2795 East Main Street, Spartanburg, South Carolina 29307-1247), the original store 45 (2000 South Pine Street, Spartanburg, SCouth Carolina 29302-3315), or another store.

I will have to give this one some more thought! Ingles #38 may be in its 3rd location, That side of Spartanburg, Fernwod Glendale, Hillcrest, has an interesting history. I remember Bi Lo picking up the Eastside Big Star ( Grand Union ) store for its 4th Spartanburg location
