Maybe another company can take over aloft
and do a similar type of festival. Also, the rent for heritage park was probably expensive so maybe they should be at a different location maybe in Greenville or Greer.

Location and better event management are two keys for a successful festival.

As for Heritage Park, it would be a wise idea to consider a music festival.

A company did not run the festival. It was a volunteer group that put a lot of time and effort into trying to makes it work. I feel bad for them. It will not go to Greer. There is not a big enough area to hold the festival.

It was an LLC I believe that ran the day to day of the festival and some of those in charge of it and in charge of Simpsonville/amphitheater should be ashamed of the way they have run it into the ground.

There was no reason to charge the cost they did for something like this other than pure greed. They could have had huge crowds by charging a nominal fee and bring in some good activities and music. ALOFT could have been a huge draw for our area if run right and if I had to time and energy I would take over but right now there is no sense in beating a dead horse.

That festival has gone from Donaldson Center in the 80's to Anderson then Simpsonville. Has it really worked anywhere?

It really flourished out at Donaldson center back when that area was mostly a big empty field. Donaldson got too developed to continue hosting the festival. Once it relocated, it never really seemed to recover. Switching the date from Fourth of July weekend didn't seem to help, either.

Maybe they will come up with a new festival that has hot air balloons and music, but without the high costs.

The costs of organizing and producing great festivals have increased substantially. A great festival can still occur. Organizers will need sound business smarts to bring in the best attractions and music without breaking the bank.

Is South Carolina still balloon friendly?

Agree. Guess city budgets are tight these days. Every one wants one but no one wants to pay for it. Even Belle Chere in Asheville is gone after decades of growing larger and more expensive.
