Wow, no Belle Chere will be different for Asheville this year.

I've been a balloon chase volunteer the last couple of years and I'll definitely miss the festival if nobody else picks it up. That said, $25/head is quite pricey. I'm not sure why they didn't offer some kind of lower-priced "family" pack of tickets.

Additionally, the weather has been the biggest factor, not the event itself. I believe that had the weather this year been like last year, we wouldn't be having this discussion. This year we had thunderstorms (or a high chance of them) every day. The balloons didn't go up as often, not that many people came into the park, and the band selection didn't exactly help either.

I don't expect Simpsonville to be able to afford Bon Jovi or any of that caliber, but there's no reason they couldn't get a midrange headliner every night. See how much it costs to hire your favorite band...or your least favorite, for that matter | 22 Words

Yeah, I have an almost-2 year old who my wife and I would have loved to bring to Aloft, but with the sun and crowds, she might not be able to stay for more than two hours or so, and $50 for the family to be there for two hours is more than I could justify.
