There was also an indoor putt putt facility further south on Southport Road, close to Holden's Ranch but on the other side of the road. I believe it's some type of baseball batting facility now.

I loved Tropical Island on Wade Hampton in Taylors. Their laser tag was far better than Frankie's IMO. Their putt-putt was more fun too with the caves and water falls. It had a much more down home feel whereas Frankie's caters to the ADHD types.

I do not recall Tropical Island having laser tag. If it did, it would have been in the late 1990's up to its closing.

Tropical Island was very successful. It was limited by continued growth and parking to accommodate more patrons. I think that became its downfall.

Yes, i think it was in the mid to late 90s. They didn't have the 3 story monstrosity that Frankie's has, it was just one big room with a giant tunnel in the middle and barrels all around, so you didn't have to worry about some punk camping the top and shooting everyone from above. The opening music was a techno song with Wile E. Coyote. And best of all the guns and vests worked 100% of the time.

UPDATE!

The owners are having the asphalt on the go-kart track at Funtasia resurfaced by construction crew! This is great news so far!!

Hopefully a vending company can buy out the arcade and upgrade the games a little. I hope the arcade inside and the party room gets remodeled too.

Everyone, just so you know the old Funtasia park is coming back as "Fantasy Island" sometime next month. You can read more about it on Urban Planet. The exterior of the arcade just got in a new coat of paint!

We have still heard little about this though, unfortunately.

The signage at the entrance is dated. Is there any progression replacing and improving it?

Most likely that sign will be taken down. I'm overall thrilled for this new update though!
