I live in Spartanburg and love it. My boyfriend is moving down and because of prior lease/roommate agreements, he is going to be living somewhere for a year before we move in together. Problem is, since it's just him, it's been difficult to find a decent housing situation that will be affordable for one person ($800 or less a month). He'll be working in Greenville around I-85 and 276 and can deal with up to a 30 minute commute to work, with around the same distance to Spartanburg.

The most important thing is pet friendly (the 3lb chihuahua apparently is a game-changer) and a safe place to park/store a motorcycle on site. We can rent a storage unit and go the apartment route if necessary, but I was wondering if anyone had any leads on where I could find rental home information, or areas to look? I haven't had much luck with craigslist, Zillow, or Trulia. We will be driving down this weekend to try to find a place. Thanks for any advice!

There is another thread floating around somewhere that also covers rentals, but this is the most extensive one AFAIK.

Rentals??

We live in the Granite at Taylors off Wade Hampton in Greenville, and it is okay. Not the nicest apartment we've lived in, but not the worst place by far either. Maintenance is always quick and the office staff are nice. Worked in a pinch since we had one day to look for apartments before my husband started his new job (two week notice, no time off available for either of us, weddings, and life made that happen!).
We probably won't renew our lease since we want a house with a yard in a couple of months, but, its relatively cheap. We are paying around $750 for rent on a 2/1. We have one of the ones that isn't updated, it was more for an updated one. Not bad. LOL way more expensive than we are used to because of where we came from, but the rental market here is a little tough seeming. Lots of demand and not a lot of supply it seems.
