Hi everyone!

I will be moving to the Greenville/Spartanburg area in January for a new job. It will just be me and my dog so I'm hoping to find a nice, safe, quiet neighborhood to live in. My job will be in Spartanburg but I'm 25 and everyone has told me to live closer to Greenville since that's where there are more things to do. I'm not looking to live in downtown and I don't mind driving to get to places (I'm originally from Miami).

I'm looking to live in Greenville or just around it in Greer or Taylors. I'm looking for:

- a one bedroom apartment
- washer/dryer inside apartment
- pet friendly
- balcony/patio
- maximum rent $800

I probably won't get to go apartment hunting in person so I am really concerned about finding a safe place to live that is in a nice neighborhood. Please help me out!

Thanks!

V

It's been a few years (2008), but we lived at Thornblade Park Apts off The Parkway, near Pelham & I-85 and had a very good experience there. It's a great neighborhood and convenient to everything. I don't know their current rental rates, but they meet all your other criteria. Location makes for an easy drive to Spartanburg and 15-20 minutes to downtown Greenville, depending on traffic. Best wishes with your move.

The Pelham Rd area would give you easy access to 85 to get to Spartanburg, and there are newer communities in Greer. I can't think of specific names right off, but those would be the areas I would look at first if I wanted a nicer neighborhood with convenient access to the highway.

Thanks for the advice! Thornblade Park looks pretty nice.

Do you all know anything about the Enclave at Paris Mountain or Legacy Crescent Park?

Legacy Crescent Park is in a great location, I don't personally know anything about the apartments.

The Enclave at Paris Mountain just opened this year. There might be a lot of Furman students living there and somewhat noisy. Doesn't make much sense to live up that way if you work in Spartanburg.

I don't think you'll find any apartments that have washer and dryer in the units in Greenville, that isn't common in the southeast. You can get washer/dryer connections though.

I recommend Beacon Ridge at corner of Pelham / Haywood roads. They have very large 1 bedroom apartments and they were going for 750 about 6 months ago. It is an older complex but pretty nice one and great location

You can rent a washer and dryer at Legacy Crescent Park, and I imagine at other complexes as well. When my son moved to Columbia, I negotiated a free rental for him in his apartment.

Thanks everyone! It's great to get your perspective since I'm pretty much going in blind here.

I've got Beacon Ridge, Thornblade Park and Legacy Crescent Park on my list.

Any thoughts on Hawthorne at the Park?

Check out Tucscon something apartments, they are near Thornblade Park off The Parkway and Pelham road, near I-85. They are about 4-5 years old. I was going to move in there in 09 but I got laid off the week after I signed. They were pretty nice.

A lot of people like the Vinings at Roper Mountain as well. Good location too.

To "V",
How was your move to Greenville? Do you like it there? Where do you recommend to buy a small house now that you have moved there for a while? Thx!
