I have noticed a lot more cars in their parking lot, in the last month or so. Just wondering what is going on with this surge in business? New management? Good for them, but I was not personally impressed by their food. JMHO. The restaurant is spotless. I wish them well.

Anita's is awesome. When we lived in Simpsonville we ate there regularly. The staff is friendly, quick and the food is great. If you are looking for Lunch Combo #14 it's not that kind of "mexican" restaurant. They have ~15 choices and they are all good. I recommend the Carnitas.

They are sometimes crowded, I believe a testament to the quality of their food and service.

We've enjoyed the fare offered by Anita's, for many years. Last time in, it appeared that the two Sons have now taken over the business. They've spent some money on upgrading the dining areas and generally improving on the place. It looks like the new frees standing drive thru is also becoming pretty popular as well. Anita's is a true Mom and Pop enterprise that has been fun to watch as it evolved. Having watched them grow up, I wish the new generation much success.

It seemed like Anita's was on a roller coaster for a while the past few years. The food was great, then went downhill for a while, but from reading the comments it looks like things are getting better. Will pay them a visit again soon.

Lunch funditos and burritos are great there. Highly recommended. And the salsa isn't bad either.

How does it compare to Tequila's? Just want to get an idea.

My family and I tried Anita's once about 6 year ago - we were not impressed at all - the food was average at best and overpriced (I felt like I could have cooked better food at home - my opinion only). Additionally, the interior space was really weird - there were no booths (that I remember) and I felt like I was sitting close to all the customers (very tight space) - was this once a house?

Tequila's (in Simpsonville) is much better - plus, I think it's all non-smoking now.

Papa's & Beer moving into the Upstate (from Asheville) has really put competitive pressure on mediocre Mexican restaurants (looking at you Anita's).

Papa's & Beer > Tequila's >> Anita's

Sabroso is top notch. And their wings, burgers/fries, and rib-eye steaks are better than most places that specialize in those foods.

I completely forgot about Sabroso - very good - as good as Tequila's - does Sabroso still allow smoking?

Sabroso used to have a second location on Haywood (until Papa's & Beer opened on the next block).

I have been to Anita's various times over the years, going back to 2001. To me, it is mediocre/decent Mexican food, but there are easily better places out there. And while I think it's a cute little set-up inside, the prices seem high for the mediocrity. But maybe that's changing, I could try it again.

I LOVE the Simpsonville Papas & Beer. Amazing food, best/cheapest happy hour margaritas around! The huge P&B on Haywood Rd isn't nearly as good. A friend warned me of this, but I thought that seemed crazy so we went there once. Well, she was right! The food was not hot, dried out, and just bland compared to the S'ville location. I will stick to the tiny one!

I keep hearing that Tequiliana's in Mauldin (newer strip mall not far off 385 & Butler) is really good. Still need to try that one.
