Over the past couple of years I have seen plans for beautifying Wade Hampton between Pleasantburg intersection and downtown Greenville. Most of the planning included tree plantings....http://www.greenvillesc.gov/omb/Admi...81%20Final.pdf

Was wondering if this has been initiated and if anyone knows of any other beautification projects, businesses, retail, mixed planning projects, etc. coming to this wide corridor which leads to downtown. (I have a home one block off of Wade Hampton, in the University Park neighborhood...directly across from BJU.)

Thanks in advance for any input.

Trees and new light posts went in last summer. Not really obvious. They also patched parts of the crumbling sidewalk. They need to repave the road though...getting worse everyday.

Wade Hampton Boulevard's aesthetic improvements should not be limited to within the city of Greenville. Greenville County and the city of Greer need to get on board to really make this corridor work.

Amen to that. WHB reminds of old Highway 50 in Orlando from Winter Garden to Downtown Orlando. A bunch of hodge podge improvements and what not (granted this was back in 95 when I lived in WG).

Is this route present day United States 92?

I will give Wade Hampton Boulevard credit for new businesses infilling vacancies in recent years.

Do you mean route 29? If so, yes. That route goes along the east coast, from Maryland to Florida.

No, I am not referring to United States 29. I am inquiring about a specific route Valien mentioned in Florida.

United States 29's southern terminus is Pensacola, Florida.

It's not the same route, but they share a couple of miles in Orlando.

50 runs straight E-W through the state from near Spring Hill to near TitusVille. In Orlando it's Colonial Dr.

92 runs from St Pete (it's the Gandy Bridge if you are familiar with the area) to Daytona, mostly parallel to I-4 (through Plant City, Lakeland, Winter Haven, etc).

92 is Orange Blossom Trail in most of Orlando, but turns onto Colonial for a couple of miles then turns back north through Sanford and DeLand.
