I wondered a while back if LJs slow demise in the upstate is because we have so many of the Harbor Inn/Silver Bay type restaurants that offer seafood at very affordable prices may have eroded some of LJ's market share.

I have not dined at Harbor Inn or Silver Bay frequently or at all to notice any difference from Long John Silver's. Harbor Inn and Silver Bay are wait-serve restaurants as Long John Silver's is fast-casual seafood.

The closest I get to seafood is Red Lobster. Their Endless Shrimp promotion is back, and I am going this weekend. Being independent from Darden, Red Lobster is ready to add locations. Their Cheddar Bay Biscuit Mix is now available at Publix.

There used to be a place up in VA called Chesapeake Bay Seafood House.. Those were.. Friggin' incredible in their prime.. Which was the 80's.

Chain seafood places.. Usually pretty blah.. I stopped eating seafood for about 15 years, besides shrimp and crab legs, after getting bad catfish from Po Folks.. Ain't nothin' like sick from seafood. It took a trip down to the Lake Charles area of Louisiana where I got an incredible salmon before I really got back into eating it.

Boneheads is a place that i've encountered recently because of my work.. Haven't had the opportunity to eat there yet, but they seem to be expanding rather quickly.

Boneheads - Relaxed Place, Serious Taste!

I'd consider them fast-casual.. LJS is fast food, period.
