I was hired by a company in responce to an advertisement that stated no experience needed, get your cdl, flagging certification, fork lift certification, on the job training. In orientation( which was paid, as we were hired) I found out that the help they offered to get your cdl was to let you practice driving on their trucks and directing you to free cdl "tests" online, additionally they let you use their truck to take the test at the dmv.
That wasn't what i hoped for as i had hardly ever driven a truck except for a u haul and Ryder for moving. but i figured okay..that's fair enough. The first week i was there when i asked i was told none of the company trucks would pass the dmv inspection to take the test in .
Then i was told the guy who did the certification for fork lift and flagging had gotten seriously ill months before and wouldn't be able to do them , he has since died , and i feel terrible about that but surely the company knew he was unable and should have filled the trainer position?
I 've only been there almost 3 months but they're already talking about lay-offs for lack of work..I haven't gotten any direct training required to get any of the certifications and i will have to rent a truck if i want to take my test for class b cdl.which i can hardly afford to do if i'm laid off..lol.
Do i have any grounds to put pressure on them to for fill their promise of certification before i'm laid off.
The employment ad read that they WOULD get you certified if hired..i understand the cdl is up to my own initiative.
Anyone got any feed back?
I like the guys and they've been pretty good otherwise.

Pack up and move on. Sounds like a poorly run company and one I would not want to be a part of.

Not sure if this helps but I think BMW is looking for forklift operators. Hope it works out for you.
