So does this mean Sports Authority is out at MP? I can't see them having both.

Academy Sports and Outdoors raised the game against Dick's Sporting Goods and Sports Authority when it opened in July 2009. Dick's does not offer much as Academy does, but it has success being at the Shops at Greenridge. Sports Authority, since acquiring Oshman's Supersports USA in approximately 2005, has gone downhill. With Cabela's coming to Magnolia Park, it is decision time for Sports Authority.

Jared Jewelers and Firebirds Wood Fired Grill have signed leases for Magnolia Park. Completion of entire development slated for end of 2014. 500,000 square feet of new retail, restaurant, and entertainment space is slated to be built between now and then. This figure includes a 180 room hotel and lifestyle center with 150,000 square feet.

Amazing how fast this development went from nothing to BOOM.

Glad to see this project finally get off the ground. This parcel has seemed jinxed since the old Greenville Mall days. I remember when the Greenville Mall was touted as being the upscale mall while Haywood would be the everyday mall. Decades later, looks like this will finally be a quality site. Firebirds is decent.

I'm interested to see how this store meshes with the rest of the development.

Very exciting to me! When we first looked into the Verdae development, we were told what a great location it was. Until I started reading this forum and looking at google maps, I didn't really understand it. It looks like the only thing that we will have a drive a bit to get to will be the library. I am just thrilled that we will be so close to not only Costco, but so many other stores. I have never heard of Cabela's, but it looks like it will be a real asset to the area.

In signing Cabela's it seems like they have found a similar replacement for Bass Pro Shops since that effort has fallen through. So hopefully those folks who kept hoping for a Bass store will be satisfied with this choice. An outdoors store does seem like a good fit for this area, since the nearest Bass Pro stores are in Charlotte and Atlanta. Not sure why they wouldn't commit to this area.
