Good points. That should be our next move as citizens of Greenville County.

Meanwhile we need to put pressure on the State Legislature to put forth a strong plan to fix our roads. Call, email, visit - whatever it takes.

If the vote on this thread is any indication, the bill may just pass by the narrowest of margins. If so, I hope that the Council does follow through and do what they say for the sake of our county.

Off to the polls....

Even though I support this tax, I don't see it passing at all.

I was the 150th person at my polling place this afternoon. Seems like turnout is low. Anybody anywhere get a higher number than I (in Greenville County, please)?

Total opposite where I was. Took me 45 minutes of waiting in line to vote.

It took me just 45 seconds to get to the registration desk today. A presidential election line has ranged from one to three hours at this polling location.

I have never had to stand in line for more than 5 mins. Guess I choose a good time to go!

I voted just prior to lunch at a polling station on Parkins Mill Road - took at least 30 minutes of waiting in line. My wife, who voted a little later, waited more than 45 minutes.

WYFF is reporting at 9:55

Greenville Co. Sales Tax For Roads

No 53126 64%
Yes 29974 36%
Precincts Reporting - 109 of 151 72%

Of course final results may change but I find it interesting that the poll results here were so far off. But then this really wasn't a scientific sample and not everyone who commented voted in the poll.

I am not surprised to see Greenville County's road sales tax referendum defeated.

I know there are specific roads that need improvement in time to come. Residents and businesses do not want to pay more taxes. Some road projects that were conceived by Greenville County do not reflect the long-term needs of those roads.
