The Cascades at Verdae cascades-Verdae.com is a very nice retirement community with cottages, apartments, and assisted living. It's in an excellent location. My parents would like to live there when it's time to downsize. I am not sure how to post a link because my settings do not have hyperlink posting enabled and I am not sure how to change it. Maybe someone else will post the link. I typed the web address in my reply.

Hi,
I've been looking at several of the "Ravines" communities for possible retirement in a couple of years. Are you pretty happy with your neighborhood?

We went to visit last summer and decided the area is not exactly what we're looking for. We are (still) searching. Good luck!

The Ravines propery that I live in is much smaller than the one in Simpsonville or the one near Furman University, yet we still have the same size clubhouse and pool. I have been very happy here, as I have an excellent group of neighbors, a good HOA management person and conscientious, caring board members.

While it's nothing like say, a Del Webb community, with tons of activities and clubs, we have a few different groups and regular social gatherings.

Our location, to me, is ideal (near I-85 and GSP) and I love being close to the new Lowes Foods store in Greer as well as all the places at or near Hudson and Old Spartanburg Roads and all the shops and restaurants just off Pelham near I-85.

The only thing I am unhappy about currently is the amount of traffic on Boiling Springs Road at certain times of day. But then, traffic is becoming a problem in the entire area -- not just here.

Amen. Takes 15 minutes to go a mile sometimes. I can run faster than that.
