I need to have the screen replaced on my daughter's iPad Mini. The Apple Store in Haywood Mall wants $199. Has anyone had iPad screens replaced at CPR on Woodruff Road or Batteries Plus on Woodruff Road? Both charge $129.99 to replace the screen. I would prefer to pay the cheaper price but don't have any experience with either of these businesses.

Any input is appreciated!

I had a friend that worked at batteries plus and they did good work when he worked there just a few months ago. As for CPR ive heard good and bad about them.

I had mine replaced at the Apple store but the main reason I choose to take it there was they didn't replace the screen, the price is for a replacement of the actual entire ipad so I got a new one of my same model that way (be sure to do a backup to itunes first!). I have had no experience with the other stores. I ususally just do my own repairs. Depending what part of the screen actually needs replacing (the glass(digitizer) or the actual LCD screen itself), if just the glass and you or someone you know is trusted and able then you can buy just the glass replacement kit off of say eBay or other sites for $20 to $30ish...depending on your model, and do it yourself. But you have to be very careful or you can damage the ipad easily. My choice was for Apple store simply becuase I got a brand new one for the price.

Psychoma is right. If you go to Apple, they replace your iPad with a brand new one. Happened to us last year.

I know that Jonah Gosnell at Total Ctrl does this kind of work. He has worked on my PCs, and I do not hesitate to recommend him. If you go to the pricing page on his website, you will get a better idea of what he does.

It is always tough to find good repair for iPads, iPods, and iPhones. I do these in S. Florida and always suggest the Apple store first if people are interested in keeping the Apple warranty intact. If that isn't the case, and you don't know of anyone local who does home repair, then give Batteries Plus or CPR your business. Bottom line, the iPad screen will cost around $30. ( I use one of several eBay suppliers and paid $28 for the most recent repair job.) Make sure that the new screen is securely attached. It can be difficult to get the flat new screen back on a bent frame if it was severely damaged or even just bent a little. And check out Ghost Armor for the best protection for your electronic devices.
