Are there any unique laws for SC or Greenville in specific?
Can you buy Alcohol on Sundays?
Do you have to bring your own shopping bags? (It's a law in Austin)
Any water restrictions?
* Maybe. SC state law says that you can't, but individual counties and cities can vote to override it. So in the county you can't, but in several of the cities / towns within the county you can.
* No
* No (at least since we've been here, we were very used to them in FL).
SC law's interesting aspects are more about what we don't have.
1. No motorcycle helmet laws
2. No required vehicle inspection.
3. You're allowed to buy mortars (fireworks that shoot up in the air and then explode)
4. Among the cheapest gasoline taxes in the country.
5. Among the lowest cigarette taxes in the country.
You can ride your motorcycle without a helmet here.
You can't currently marry somebody the same gender (yet).
You can't smoke or sell marijuana (yet).
Tattoos and alcohol are legal but on Sundays there are some restrictions which I don't fully know about. I don't drink anymore and don't miss the stuff.
I don't think we require the bringing of your own shopping bags except at certain stores. Aldi doesn't provide them and Whole Foods and Earthfare did not for awhile but I think they relented and you can get bags there now. Not at Aldi. BYOB there.
We did have a very restrictive "no touching your phone whilst in your car" law in Greenville City at one time but a state law against texting while driving repealed it.

4 and 5 seem ok. The gas tax isn't cheap in absolute terms and raising it hurts the poor most. The vehicle inspection is another tax and pointless. In Maryland it is 100 dollars.
