Someone please tell me what need these "community centers" are supposed to fill.I only see these "centers" in blighted communities with high unemployment. They are almost always old buildings where redevelopment isn't feasible, so there they sit as derelict unused public buildings, but I'm sure it warms a liberals heart somewhere.

It is cheaper and logical to raze the site and develop it for active uses like retail, dining, and services.

I would not have a problem with the site being used for a charter school.

If proponents desire to save buildings, they need to come forward with a budget to bring them up to code and pay for it themselves.
