This region is already absolutely flooded with grocery chains.
Some parts of WH seem to have a grocery every 1 mile or 1/2 mile. Some large ones are out of business due to the competitive market, and imo, oversaturation.
I do see the new Aldi in Greer filling a needed niche, however.

I do agree with Aldi. I'm lucky to have one in Taylors only 2 miles from my house Instead of another grocery store where BiLo was, I'd like to see a hardware store like ACE.
Hurray.. I can buy my lumber/hardware and my groceries in the same store.. What a concept....*sarcasm*.
The 48 car will also deliver your milk and eggs!
Seriously though, they do offer a delivery service or you can have a personalized shopper do your shopping and pick it up for five bucks. That's what I'm talking about!!!
The Greenville area is well served in the supermarket category with Bi-Lo, Ingle's, Publix and Walmart Neighborhood Market. The re-entrance of Harris Teeter, owned by Kroger, is logical for a larger chain wanting to infill in upstate South Carolina and western North Carolina.
I do not know the logic of Lowe's Foods expanding into Greenville. It has failed in two North Carolina markets: Asheville and Charlotte. It does not make sense to leapfrog over failed markets to enter a new market.
I wonder if there are any mergers and acquisitions on the way.
I'd be really bummed out if one of the Lowes Food locations is Riverside Crossings in Greer as opposed to the Publix that I had hoped would be in the space. I recently saw a big sold sign at that location but still no evidence of any work going on. BTW - the sold sign is now gone.

Wait a year or two and it will probably be sold and become a Publix or Harris Teeter.
I'm not sure why everyone is so against Lowes Foods coming to the area. They have a new concept for their stores and they are very upscale. They focus on local foods.
