Easley Village Shopping Center, located at 5155 Calhoun Memorial Highway, Easley, South Carolina 29640-3861, is a retail center that was constructed and opened in the mid-1980's. Kmart #3645 and Bi-Lo #5199 have been its anchors.

Kmart #3645:
Kmart #3645 closed Sunday, 18 January 2015. Its pharmacy operation was acquired by CVS #4286, located at 5269 Calhoun Memorial Highway, Easley, South Carolina 29640-3865, prior to closing. Its vacant space is 86,479 square feet.

Bi-Lo #5199:
Originally opening as Bi-Lo #199, store #5199 was the second Bi-Lo to open in the city of Easley. (It became store #5199 when Bi-Lo changed its store numbers after acquiring Winn Dixie.) It expanded in the late 1990's with the addition of a cafe to the delicatessen. It does not have a pharmacy.

Bi-Lo announced store #5199 will close by Wednesday, 22 April 2015. It will vacate its space of 40,732 square feet.

Future:
The presence of Ingle's and Walmart Supercenter stores nearby may have led to the closures of Kmart #3645 and Bi-Lo #5199. Without a discount department store, pharmacy and supermarket, Easley Village Shopping Center will have voids.

Default Target at Easley Village Shopping Center: Speculation

Target has not opened a new store in Anderson, Greenville and Spartanburg counties and other areas across upcountry South Carolina in 11 years. It is opening new TargetExpress stores across the United States. The greater Easley area can support a Target store instead, and it should have one already.

I do not see Target coming to Easley yet until it is set on infilling in existing regions.

Easley Village Shopping Center could use a new mix of tenants. I wonder if another supermarket or chain stores would have interest in locating there.

Will probably end up being a fitness center,Ollie's or some other B level retailer that likes repurposing vacant supermarkets.

This shopping center has been rumored as a future site for Target and Costco. I don't see Easley as a site for a Costco yet. Target would make a lot of sense but they are in a financial bind from their failed Canadian expansion and don't seem to be opening many new stores the last few years. That particular location would seem to be too valuable to sit idle or for it to be filled with "b" level tenants.

Easley could use a larger multiplex theater - I could see the site used for that purpose. It will be interesting to see what happens with the location. I hope it doesn't become an eyesore of vacant dilapidation.

Is there any speculation of what may fill the former Bi-Lo #5199 and the remainder of former Kmart #3645?
