Easley
Hi,
Does anyone have any info on Easley?
I may have a job opportunity there, but have not seen the area.
I was wondering if there is any lakes nearby.
Any info would be appreciated!
Thanks, PattiV

OK, work is in Easley, not looking to live there, but surrounding areas.
Looking at 250k-325k for a decent area.
But thanks for the info!

Hi Patti! Just moved here about five months ago. My wife and I are both retired so work at this point was not a selling point. As far as the area, Easley is quite spread out. There is the older portion of Easley which is the area associated with downtown, and then there is the entire area surrounding which includes areas aong Rt.123 both North & South. We came from a high tax, high price area, & cold ,so Easley is opposite. The taxes are low ( this does not include the whole issue of car taxes ), the cost of living is alot less than where we relocated from; the weather is much warmer, and we've found the people are genuine & friendly. We came from an area where we had to travel by car 25-30 minutes to get to a store, bank, Lowes etc. In the Easley area you are a 5-10 minute ride to most necessities. Keep in mind that you are 15 minutes from downtown Greenville ( a city that you MUST visit ) , and you are 2hrs either way between Atlanta & Charlotte,NC. You are surrounded by several colleges ( Clemson,Furman,Bob Jones, South Carolina etc) and in Clemson ( 18 miles from Easley ) you are near some beautiful Lakes ( Hartwell, Keowee ). Thirty minutes North and you have several major State Parks and the mountains. Easy access to major roads I-85 and several large airports. I could go on as we've found the area to be a plus, and all signs indicated that it is growing. You will also find the cost of housing to be very beneficial, depending on your price range.
Best of Luck. Easley is worth a good look.

Thanks, guys, great info!
I take it you guys hail from Allentown PA?
We moved to NC 18 mos. ago and enjoy living in the south.
We are in Hickory now, and plan to visit the area soon, if this opportunity works out.
My husband is retired also, it seems that no matter where you go, taxes will be an issue, just a different "hand in the pocket".
As my husband puts it "They will get their money one way or another"
Still, I would rather deal with that, than in NJ where We had many hands in all our pockets, LOL!
Thank you for taking the time for a response.
Patti

Easley
I could tell you a bunch! I've sold a number of homes here.
First of all...Easley has a newer "section" called Powdersville. It's not a town or city name...so Powdersville is something you should become familiar with. Moderator cut: edit I like P'Ville over the actual city of Easley because it's newer , has lots of new stores, and is so close to I-85/Atlanta/Charlotte/Greenville corridor.
Good luck!
