Is crime REALLY this high in Greenville?
Doing a comparison of where I live now (6 miles East of Hartford CT) Greenville has MUCH higher crime than the national average and WAY over my home city of similar size...and in many ways outpaces Hartford which is a rough city inside it's city limits!

Since I know my home town is skewed from the HUGE retail area with all the shoplifting and such, I'm hoping someone has a good answer from the link above.
My wife is going to think I've taken a stupid pill when she looks at that link.
What's the real deal?

Yes. It is that high. You will probably want to move somewhere else.
Seriously, though, my car insurance rates went up a lot here compared to NoVA. The reason the insurance company gave me was the higher incidents of thefts here. Just keep an eye on all the bank robberies, murders, arsons and other crimes that are on GreenvilleOnline all the time.
And bring your gun. All of us Liberals are taking away all the law-abiding citizens' guns, door-to-door, and handing them over to all those criminals. And we sell a lot of weed here, mainly to the kids.
Where there is poverty, there is crime. There is poverty in Greenville. You probably want to rethink the move.

Art123 - LOL - who says you liberals don't have a sense of humor!
JViello - it seems like most of the crime is concentrated in a few areas. Do a search in this forum and there are some links to the crime stats complete with graphs and geographical areas. This issue has been visited many times.
Now, come on down - we need to counteract those pesky liberals we are trying to get away from in New England. They seem to have found the area and are moving in!!!

Sorry, I don't own one. But I'm sure some good conservative "down yonder" has a few hundred I can borrow after they are done shooting all the liberals who sell weed to kids.
Thanks for the info though...I think.

Scaring off relocatees???
I have heard so many positive things about greenville, are some of the natural born residents trying to deter transplants from invading this area with exaggerated accounts of crime?? (No offense, I am not accusing anyone of lying) What of the photos on the cities website that show it to be a lovely place to be??? So many other posts indicate that the majority of people enjoy living there.

I did a search on the subject and am not coming up with much...I'll keep looking. If you have anything handy DM it over!
Thanks in advance.
P.S. Perhaps we can just make the libs live by their own policies and pay $7500 a year in property taxes, hand out condoms to their kids and pay for their abortions, legalize drugs, and take 50% of their paycheck and give it to the people across town who have no desire to support themselves and they will move back to New England.

The reason Greenville looks like it has a higher crime rate than most areas is mainly do to the fact that they report all of the crimes done here while in other cities they don't.

I don't know man...that's a hard one to swallow. I know the captain and several officers on our force and I'm sure they report crime as it happens.
Why would a local policeman not report rape, murder or a burgulary?
