I wish I made my salary in Greenville. Instead, I make it in Chicago. I make less than 70k. I have family in Greenville, and I'm pretty sure they don't make 70k either, and they live plenty well.

Also when I see a pay cut on a resume the first thing that goes thru your head is this guy was fired and had to take a lower paying job.

Haha, this thread is kind of funny. southerngentleman....are you really a southern gentleman? haha, just teasing.

I have grown up here and I know for a fact that you will be fine w/ $70k. Especially if it's just you. Will you be supporting a family on your salary only? If so, it will be a little tighter, but you'd still be okay.

you really think all people who take a pay cut are changing jobs because they got fired?

P.S. what field do you work in?

Thats fair. I've had a lot of trouble finding a job here mostly because I made a lot of money in Chicago. A recruiter here told me I'd be lucky to make half my Chicago salary here and sadly that seems to be true. Employers here are afraid to get in that situation and that somewhat explains the shortage of technical workers here. I believe once ICAR is in operation that will change as there will be a lot more competition in the area for these workers. Time will tell.

In all my years in business I have never put my salary on a resume nor have I ever seen anyone else do it. That is something that I only discussed in a face to face interview. I gather that you receive a lot of resumes that have the salaries right on them.
Not that I am planning on looking for a job but now I'm curious... is that how everyone here does it?

I Do Business all over the country, Financial Mainly, but we do have two other divisions of the company. I recieve resumes on a regular basis. Most have salary history plus desired salary range. For the most part I am looking for highly motivated individuals, who are advancing(Climbing the corp. Ladder)and with that goes Salary increases! If there is a decline it raises flags. Our clients are C level and the uber wealthy,so the expect a certain level from us.The other two divisions I am not so picky about.

A lot of companies here request salary history with a resume.
