Default Banks & ATMs

Hello,

I'm moving down to Greenville in a few weeks and had a question about Banks and Credit Unions. Are there any particular banks or CU's that have a good selection of ATMs and branches? I'm spoiled here, we have ATMs and branches for our credit union on every street corner and am looking at my options for the Greenville/Greer area. Anyone have some thoughts or opinions?

Thanks!

All the big boys are here.....Bank of America, Wachovia, BB&T, Regions, etc....all with numerous branches and ATM's.

With that said, I would suggest Carolina First. They are based in Greenville, as is their parent company The South Financial Group. South Financial Group is the largest bank based in SC and in the top 50 banks in the US. Carolina First blankets the area with ATM's. They also sponsor many community events and use mobile ATM's at these events....Artisphere, US Pro Cycling Championship, etc, etc, as well as having an ATM inside West End Field (handy for beer at ballgames ).

depends on where you need to use ATM's: locally only, regionally or nationally. Credit Unions are less likely to have ATM's but I hear the reimburse you fees (??) for using other ATM's. Carolina First has a number of banks and ATM's in the area but are more local, BB&T is a more regional bank with lots of branches and Wachovia is not exactly national but more widespread nationally than BB&T. Bank of America is probably found a lot of places in the country. I find locally Bank of America has fewer branches here than the others but they aren't really hard to find if a more national bank is what you need.

Thanks for the suggestions! It looks like if I want a good selection of local ATMS, I should choose Carolina First.

Palmetto Bank also has branches with ATMs in virtually every town around the Upstate, though not as many stand-alone ATMs as Carolina First. Another strong consideration is SunTrust, with lots of branches and even locations in a couple local grocery stores.
