Didnt want to dig back through the posts, but does anybody near Fountain Inn smell raw sewage this morning? I started smelling it near the ZF plant this morning after dropping my son off at GCO, and now at 9:38 Im smelling here in FI.

I know we all want the tourist trade that Charleston and Myrtle Beach get, but I think we are going about it all wrong.

It was weird. There one minute, gone the next, then back again. Smelled it this morning in about the same spot, but didn't smell it a work this morning.

Residents to meet about landfill odors

Smells emanating from the Twin Chimneys landfill have become unbearable for some southern Greenville County residents.

The "noxious" odors are noticeable from as far as 15 miles away from the landfill, residents said. Within five miles of the landfill, the odors dominate the atmosphere several days a week, the SGCCG said.

This definitely was a sewage smell, not a landfill smell.

Since it is described as a sewer smell in the article, and you are well within the radius mentioned, I thought it was relevant.

Sounds like there's plenty of stinky odor going around down in southern Greenville County!

Oh, OK. I just skimmed the article, so maybe it is the landfill. I didnt see the "what it smells like" part.

That landfill is off HWY 25 near Princeton going towards Ware Shoals and Greenwood. Surely that's further to FI than the 15 mile radius stated. Smells more like a natural gas smell to me when I pass by that landfill. Isn't that what landfills emit anyway?

Methane can be a by-product of decomposition but methane is odorless. The gas companies add an odorant to it to make it easy to detect leaking lines that could explode.
