Smile Rudolph Gordon New Elem. School

My 7 year old daughter will attend 2nd grade at Rudolph Gordon next year and we are about 15 minutes from the school. My kids currently go to Bryson for the past year and the year before that went to Simpsonville for one year. We moved last year so that's why we had to switch from Simpsonville to Bryson. Myself I liked Simpsonville better and being by Cryovac wasn't a concern. The teachers were wonderful and it really seemed like all the parents were involved. I hope Rudolph Gordon turns out to be a good school because that's what we are zoned for. My son will go into the 6th grade at Riverside Middle in Greer next year which is about 18 minutes from our home. We built a new home in Creekwood which is off of Jonesville Road and Woodruff Road so no matter what schools we were zoned for it seemed like they were far away. I have heard lots of good things about Riverside at least but the new school only time will tell. Maybe we will meet next year. If you have a daughter going into 2nd next year feel free to email me and we can meet.

Good luck!
Amy

We are zoned for Ellen Woodside in Pelzer, but it takes 20 min in the opposite direction of my husbands work (and he would be taking my daughter to school). And right now I have her in Greenbrier Elementary. We tried to get her into Plain for the 2nd year in a row since it is so close to the house but Neely Farms takes up most of the school and they had no openings for 1st grade.

We ruled out Simpsonville Elementary even though it is only 8 min from my house because of its location and I was concerned that the school is so close to a large company and not sure what the kids would be breathing in.

Thanks for the replies, it was definitely a stressful decision but one I hope we are happy with.

Amy,

We are not in 2nd yet....

I have only heard good things about the new school, and the high hopes they have for it, so I am crossing my fingers!

My daughter will be attending 2nd grade next year at Rudolph G. Gordon. We are excited and hope that the enthusiasm we have will be shared by the teachers and principal. Liz

The law is the law..and the school districts here just try to strong arm you or scare you... she will have the same amount of days/tardies allowed as any kid...it's her right.

The Principal of Rudolph Gordon is currently in an office at my school until her school is ready. She seems very organized and excited. I hear they are/will be pulling great teachers from all over the county. I am sure it will be a nice school. At Bell's, we will only lose about 50 children that I know of.

I am the PTA president at Rudolph Gordon. I think you will be very happy with the school! The only thing lacking right now is a playground. We are currently looking for businesses and individuals/families that are willing to make a monetary donation to help us raise money to buy playground equipment. If you or someone you know is willing to help, please contact the PTA at RudolphGordonPTA@charter.net.

Smile Rudolph Gordon Elementary

I am a mom of three young boys..one of which has attended Bryson Elementary for the past 2 years...I was very nervous about the new Elementary School (Gordon) because we are zoned for it and I have had such a great experience at Bryson. I volunteered a good bit at Bryson and got to know other moms, teachers, and the PTA staff...When the new principal was named for Rudolph Elementary..I heard nothing but great things about her...She is very well respected at Plain Elementary (where she is coming from ) and everyone seems very happy about her being named Principal at Rudolph Gordon Elementary. So, I hope that helps..I am looking forward to sending my boys there..this year I will have 2 there...next year all 3 will be there. I wish you the best in making your decision.

Regina

Default We will be there

We will be in the kindergarten class at Rudolph Gordon. The school looks great and can't wait to see the inside! I will be helping with the Box Tops, so make sure you are all clipping and saving them!

I can't believe its already time for school again. Boy the summer went by fast!

Question Greenville County Schools

I am looking for some input. My son is currently a fourth grader at Mauldin Elementary and we are desparate to find a new school within the county for him. The school is good but it has over 1100 kids. He is ADHD with a few processing issues, but a very good boy - he just struggles in school. He does not qualify for resource and honestly he is too smart for resource. Does anyone have any suggestions as to another school in the county that may be a good fit for him? Like another post read, "private school is just not an option for us."
