Fountain Inn is where I live. We have been here over 10 years. We came from Simpsonville and wish we had not made the move. The good news is that the Good Ole Boy government here seems to be taken over by more sensible types. (Not much better than what was in there before, they just want to spend money! Look at the crappy curbing work that was done. Dont get me wrong, it looks better than it did!)
There are no groceries stores you could walk to and bring your groceries home. BiLo is it. We usually drive past it to go to Publix in Simpsonville.
There are several new restaurants in town and some are quite good. Favorite new place in town is a craft beer store called Growler Haus. Great Tacos and Nachos.
The Younts Center does provide some nice entertainment and the library is right next door.
The Farmer's Market and Friday night music is pleasant. (Only during warmer months)
There is a new development that is being built just as you come in to town, The Village At Fountain Inn, New Homes for sale at Villages At Fountain Inn in Fountain Inn, SC (They started all of that several years ago! Maybe they are finally doing something with it! I know the entrance and curbing was done at least 5 years ago, and wasnt done right. Hundreds of people have hit the curbing, myself included.)
Choose wisely.

They have been grading in there for over 6 months. Sewer and water lines are in place. Lots are marked off.

I go by there twice a day, never noticed it. (or should I say paid any attention to it.) Ill look again on my way home.
Thanks for all the good information. We aren't worried about school systems except to work for. All our kids are grown and out of the house. But being in our early 50's we still need to work. I've poked around sites to check on areas mentioned. Closed I made it that way was Gaffney years ago. What industries are there, I can put in businesses, but let's face every thing under the sun comes up. Hubby has a interview here-for a whopping $9hr-that's NYS new minimum wage. It's not like he's entry level, but that's how people up this way treat you now trying to get work. He'll be coming down over the summer to look for a job-in ready mix concrete, HVAC or dispatching. Even DME again as he worked with liquid oxygen.
We had found a few homes in Fountain Inn we liked. Both were built late 1800's to early 20th century. More character than what builders crank out these days. Craftmanship goes a long way. But ones we looked at were bought fairly quickly. So that's what we are keeping an eye out for.
Keep suggestions coming-they are greatly appreciated! Happy Wednesday everyone!
