Why do I have to pay the vehicle tax twice in 3 months?

Go down there and get it straightened out. If you transferred your title to SC from another state, you should have already had to go to the county building once. Take your receipt with you from that December payment. Sounds like something is messed up in their records. If you paid in December you shouldn't have to pay until next December.

After looking at my records, I'm pretty sure the reason is that they had me put a 2017 sticker on it, whereas my other car was registered a couple weeks earlier during the last week of 2015, and has a 2016 sticker.
