Default it is quite shocking

I was surprised at my paycheck and how much was taken out for state tax. It seems to vary based on your income level. Mine seems to be between 5 and 6% that is taken out which is a chunk when your salary is paid monthly. But we just filed our tax returns and were pleased that we did get a large refund for state tax. We live in PA before and would either break even or owe a small amount or occasionally get a tiny amount back. Here we got a good chunk back. Of course in comparison with what was taken out in each state and what you get back it's relative.

What are the tax laws for small business owners? What about workmans comp.? As the business owner/employee are you allowed to be workmans comp. exempt?

Thanks,
Steve
