Ingle's is active rebuilding/expanding and replacing existing stores. It has not opened any new stores in South Carolina in eight years.

I think Ingle's stores in South Carolina are doing well. BI-LO is actively closing stores, and its parent company, Southeastern Grocers, is not doing well. Publix is active opening additional and replacement stores, but not active in Greenville County. Lowe's Foods is questionable considering its failure in York County and in Cleveland, Gaston and Mecklenburg counties in North Carolina. Harris Teeter, as a division of Kroger, should be active in its second attempt in Greenville County. I think Kroger is in position to make another acquisition.

In another forum, some local Simpsonville residents said they heard that either Aldi or Lidl will eventually move into the old Publix store.

I vote for a Lidl, but either one would work out good there.

They kind of favor standalone stores though don't they? Doesn't seem like their style. Guess there is still a chance.

Lidl is opening standalone stores. Aldi opens a combination of standalone and retail center stores. Simpsonville could see a limited assortment/discount grocer. I would not be surprised if Aldi is the first.

I thought all indications so far were that Hobby Lobby will locate in the new Martin Farms with Publix.
