Default W.Ga Road Development in Simpsonville/LIH?

Hello-

My husband and I heard today that an entire developemnt of low income housing will be going in at W GA Road and Harrison Bridge- to the right of fire station. Where they used to have the horses on the hill. Is this correct? I guess there is a meeting planned soon for residents to speak at a meeting- I would like as much info as I can get. It just seems like an odd place to put a development.

Thanks

Can I ask where you heard that? We live in the development right next to that and I actually heard from a neighbor it was suppose to be a high end development?

Seems strange that they would put low income housing in the middle of several mid-to upper scale developments (example: greythorne and Griffin Park)

I would definitely like to know more about it.

Its obvious thats not true. Like you said everything there now is middle class or high end. Simpsonville is not a low income place. Its average household incomes are second in Greenville County only to Mauldin which sits right beside it.

I don't know anything about this development. However, in Northern Virginia (where I just moved from) the "low income" developments were often right in some very nice areas. That was part of the point, I believe. These developments were very nice and kept up. The only way you knew they were "low income" is if you applied to live in one of the apartments or townhouses which were limited to people making under a certain salary. I know this because our 1st choice apartment complex based on location, size, amenities, etc. turned out to be "low income" and we did not qualify.

Now sure if it will be low-income housing or not. It will be a neighborhood. Here is information on it: http://greenvilleplanning.com/land_Development/prelim_subs/06-272-datasheet.pdf (broken link) and http://greenvilleplanning.com/land_Development/prelim_subs/06-272-Plat.pdf (broken link)

Maybe it won't be too bad if its nice. A lot of that is going on in the core area in Greenville. As matter of fact I think Jesse Jackson Townhomes were torn down and rebuilt.

My husband called because we are next door to it. And they said they didn't know if it was going to be low income that the range of prices depends on the developer. They did say it was going to be a small development of single family homes (like the plans someone posted) but it wasn't going to be clusters.

Default W Ga Development

Yes, it is the one by the firehouse. It owuld make some sense that they build something int he 160'2-200 range here because it would serve as a buffer to the firehouse. I can find out more as the week unfolds and watch for more postings on this site.

I found out that 66 lots will be called The Courtyard on West Georgia. I'm still digging! The firhouse didn't know much of anything yet either. I stopped by there today! Greenville Area developers LLC I am told are the developers. If you look at their profile on the web, they consist of a huge number of businesses. I'm suspecting townhomes because of the number of units and land availability.
