The former First Union bank at 2400 Wade Hampton Boulevard, Greenville, South Carolina 29615-1146, the eastern corner of Wade Hampton Boulevard and Richbourg Road in the Greenville community in Greenville County, South Carolina, is being converted into a new fire station for the Wade Hampton Fire Department.

I do not know if this new station will be an additional station, or it will replace another station. It will be located between Station 1, W.M. Edwards Station, 2815 Wade Hampton Boulevard, Taylors, South Carolina 29687-2711, and Station 3, 33 Pine Knoll Drive, Greenville, South Carolina 29609-3233.

This new substation of the Wade-Hampton Fire Department will replace 2 aging substations: Station 1 (2815 Wade Hampton Blvd--Near Chickfila) and Station 3 (33 Pine Knoll Dr, Greenville, SC 29609--Near Wade Hampton HS). It appears work is about complete on the extensive conversion.

I heard speculation years ago stations 1 and 3 would consolidate into a single station. The consolidation could either reduce companies and/or increase manpower by decreasing from four stations to three stations.

I wonder if Station 2, 1112 Pelham Road, Greenville, South Carolina 29615-3642, will be up for a replacement.

Default Wade Hampton Fire Department Station 1, 2400 Wade Hampton Boulevard, Greenville, South Carolina 29615-1146

The new station will be known as Station 1. It appeared not to be open yet.

I wonder if a traffic signal at Wade Hampton Boulevard and Richbourg Road and/or an emergency traffic signal in front of Station 1 will be added.

A traffic signal is being installed at the intersection of Wade Hampton Boulevard and Richbourg Road. The signals are wired and covered presently.

The emergency traffic signal at the current Station 1 has been removed.

Ugh. Just what Wade Hampton needs - another traffic signal.

I rather have a traffic signal in place to slow down and stop traffic when fire department units go en route to incidents.

Taking it further, it will be easier to complete left turns from Wade Hampton Boulevard onto Richbourg Road and to allow better pedestrian traffic crossing Wade Hampton Boulevard.

Default Wade Hampton Fire Department Station 1, 2400 Wade Hampton Boulevard, Greenville, South Carolina 29615-1146

It appears an engine company is stationed at Wade Hampton Fire Department's new Station 1. The older Station 1 still has several engine companies.

The traffic signal at Wade Hampton Boulevard and Richbourg Road has not been activated yet.

The traffic signal at Wade Hampton Boulevard and Richbourg Road is now activated and it appears that equipment and the emergency signal has been removed from the other station on WH.
