Is that Bi-Lo one of their better performing stores? Or one that may be under consideration for closing? I know nearby there is a nice large Ingle's, and a Walmart Supercenter. And many underperforming Bi-Lo stores have been closing in the past year. But that location in Boiling Springs may do well.

That Bilo does very well. That whole area around that Bilo is very congested with traffic. If you haven't been to Boiling Springs in awhile you would be very surprised at how fast it is growing.

Default Bi-Lo #5113, Cypress Shopping Center, 3720 Boiling Springs Road, Boiling Springs, South Carolina 29316-5716

Bi-Lo #5113 is among Bi-Lo's top performing stores in Spartanburg County. It could use an update. It must be doing well against two Ingle's supermarkets, one Walmart Supercenter hypermarket, and one Aldi limited assortment/discount grocery store. I wonder how it would fare against a Publix supermarket.

Ingress from Boiling Springs Road northbound and egress into Old Furnace Road westbound is the best pattern in and out of Cypress Shopping Center. I will say Old Furnace Road needs to be widened to four lanes from Asheville Highway to Parris Bridge Road.

I was in this BiLo earlier today and heard the cashier tell another customer that the store was closing in a few weeks.

Southeastern Grocers, parent of BI-LO, has not publicly announced the closing of BI-LO #5113.

I have heard the pharmacy department will close Thursday, 11 May, and the store will close in June.

Something must have declined in the past year if this was previously one of their top performing stores. And overall this does not bode well for BI-LO as a company if even their better stores are possibly closing. Perhaps this is just a preemptive move since Publix may soon be coming. And I guess Walmart, Aldi, and Ingle's have already proven to be a stronger threat.

Default BI-LO #5113, Cypress Shopping Center, 3720 Boiling Springs Road, Boiling Springs, South Carolina 29316-5716

BI-LO #5113's competition includes supermarkets Ingle's #200, 4600 Highway 9, Inman, South Carolina 29349-8001, and Ingle's #201, 2120 Boiling Springs Road, Boiling Springs, South Carolina 29316-5301; hypermarket Walmart Supercenter #2806, Boiling Springs Centre, 4000 Highway 9, Boiling Springs, South Carolina 29316-8501; and limited assortment/discount grocer Aldi (Jefferson Division) #94, 168 Farm Lake Road, Boiling Springs, South Carolina 29316-6401.

Closing a top performing store does not bode well indeed. Southeastern Grocers' Spartanburg County BI-LO stores may not be doing well altogether. An expiring lease, strong competition, and the coming of another competitor in supermarket Publix are legitimate reasons for Southeastern Grocers to close BI-LO #5113 and leave the trade area.
