Popeye's Louisiana Kitchen #12116 has opened recently at 3895 Boiling Springs Road, Boiling Springs, South Carolina 29316-5717, the southwest corner of Boiling Springs Road and Rainbow Lake Road in the Boiling Springs community in Spartanburg County, South Carolina. It is the first Spartanburg County location.

I have heard Popeye's chicken is spicier than Bojangles' and Kentucky Fried Chicken. I do not not know how their sides compare.

Just try it! When I lived in Chicago I frequented Popeye's for lunch! They had a mild and spicy version and I always got the mild. Not a fan of spicy! I will say the mild is a bit spicy but the onion rings and root beer I had with my chicken made the spice unimportant! I might have to drive to Boiling Springs soon! OMG

Just went searching and there is an unofficial Facebook page now. Lines wrapped around the building for the opening. 5 star rating!

If this doesn't convince them to come further west to Greenville, I don't know what will! OMG!!!!!!!!

I had heard the Popeyes in Boiling Springs location was set to open. Sounds like a big hit so far. Hopefully the rumored Greer location will be next. As for the sides, they include red beans and rice, cajun rice, seasoned fries, mashed potatoes with gravy, cole slaw, green beans, and corn on the cob. Also mac and cheese and onion rings. They have of choice of spicy or mild chicken, as well as chicken breast tenders. And also a few seafood items including popcorn shrimp and cajun fish at some locations. The fried chicken is a bit spicier than Bojangle's.

Is spinach a side? Being Popeye's, it could be useful against Bluto.

The rumored Greer, Greenville County, location could likely be somewhere on West Wade Hampton Boulevard. I have not noticed anything unusually active along the corridor recently.

I just happened to be in this area on Saturday and I was turned away as it was "Friends and Family Day" so invitations were required!

I think they actually stopped licensing the Popeye characters back in the late 80's/early 90's.

Sounds like a soft opening. Pretty common in the restaurant/fast food industry.

Also, Popeyes Chicken is named after Popeye Doyle from The French Connection, not Popeye the Sailor Man

Bojangles has great biscuits and they serve breakfast. Other than that, Popeye's is so much better. More flavor, different spices, etc. Whenever I make a visit back home to Katrina Land, I bring back spicy chicken tenders and the Cajun rice. Put all of it in the freezer and have it when I get the craving for some food with flavor in it. I am so excited that Popeye's is expanding to the Upstate.

It is difficult to have spinach with chicken without Popeye the Sailor Man.
