I drive from Taylors to Traverlers Rest almost every day. They are working on State Park with what looks like a chip and seal.
Except there is a machine that looks like it grinds up the surface of the road and leaves a dark brown dirt which is then rolled and covered with oil and gravel. The "finished" parts of the road are already getting potholes in them, along with bare spots.
Anybody know if this is the finished product? or is this the first part of a repave?
Sounds like what they did to 101 betwen Woodruff and Gray Court. Was a mess for a while, but they eventually got it all repaved with new asphault. They had to g oall the way to "new" dirt to do it right.
They did the same back in August on Duncan Chapel Road and Watkins Bridge Rd, next to Furman before it was repaved with beautiful new asphalt.
Duncan Chapel Road from Old Buncombe Road to Watkins' Bridge Road had been rough for decades. Its repaving is greatly welcomed and necessary.
