Who went today and what did you think? I heard people started lining up at 5 AM this morning. I went later and I was impressed. The store looks great! There is an expansion of products and the produce looked great as usual. The isles are wider and the store is easy to navigate. The one thing I noticed were that prices were slightly higher, maybe .10-.20 an item. Not bad. I guess they have to pay for the updated store somehow. Aldi still surpasses other grocery stores around for best prices. The quality can't be be beat either. Two thumbs up for Aldi!

Dang, I had a feeling they would jack up prices. Probably still 20-30% cheaper than Wal-mart.

Most people won't notice it but I pay close attention and can notice it. After looking at my receipt, I noticed the final amount was higher than usual. I did need a lot of groceries though, so that may have also played a part in it The prices definitely were slightly higher. Aldi will still be my go to store.

Do you know how much higher in percentage or in dollars? Like $5 higher for $50 higher?

Nevermind, you said you bought more this trip.

I just wanted to let you know the answer to your question. I had a regular trip the other day. I am going to say it was approximately 10%-15% more. An extra $10-$15 on a $100 trip isn't too bad. They have added alot of things to the store which is nice.

A price war will create intense competition for limited assortment/discount grocers Aldi and Lidl and may eliminate inferior competitors in other grocery segments like supermarket BI-LO.
