I think at this point if I want pizza with a crust that has flavor and good sauce I am just going to have to hold out and only go to Happy Pie and Mellow Mushroom. It seems to be the only choice, even though they are more money, but the pizza is just better with good flavor from top to bottom.
Well I have to ask what is it out here with the Pizza places they all have the same exact plain crust and the exact same sauce it all tastes the same! I have tried Tony's Pizza & Sub, Olive Tree on W Butler Mauldin, Milano in Simpsonville, Pizza Factory Mauldin. My other complaint is the previous mentioned all use nasty canned mushrooms too so gross like rubber. So for now when I get my craving and if I have enough money it is going to have to be Happy Pie or Mellow Mushroom!!

Two different places of business but both have the name Tony and probably different in taste I hope! there is Tony's Pizza and Subs, uhhh plain and boring exactly the same and the other Is Tony's New York Style Pizza Tony's On Line which I have not yet tried! Hopefully it is better than the first one mentioned.

I have heard from several people that Tony's New York Style Pizza (in the T.J. Maxx shopping center at Haywood Road and Orchard Park Drive) is very good. I have not had a chance to try it yet, but it's on the list.

My daughter and grandbabies are visiting and we went to Happy Pie tonight. It was excellent! We got a large pizza that was half pepperoni and half Hawaiian. The pepperoni was soooooooooo good and my daughter took one bite of the Hawaiian, and said, 'Mom, this is fresh pineapple, I've never had a pizza with fresh pineapple'! I asked them about it and sure enough, they get whole pineapples and cut them up for pizza.

We didn't get a salad, but they sounded really good. We did get some garlic cheese bread and it was fabulous. Probably the best bread I have ever gotten from a pizza place. It came with sauce, which was fine, but I thought it was great without it.

I will be going back, they had a lot of pizza's I want to try. I really want to try the bbq chicken pizza.

Whole Foods is having a 50% off sale on all slices for the entire month of September. We went in today, not knowing and I wound up pigging out; one mushroom/pepperoni slice, one Hawaiian slice (pineapple and ham) and one tricolor slice (spinach, ricotta, tomato and mozzarella). I added a can of Whole Foods soda (.59 cents and they use real cane sugar, no hfcs) and my entire lunch was under $5.50.

One of, if not the best pizza's in town, and a half off sale for the entire month; everyone make sure to take advantage.

I LOVE their pizza. Got some a few weeks ago. I need to go back. Ever since the CEO of Whole Foods Market made that comment about healthcare, i've been shopping there more. I can't help it. It's a great grocery store.

My little G-man is growing up into such a fine young conservative. I'm so proud. Have a slice of $1.50 WF pepperoni on me.

I'm the OP - here's my take on some of the pizza joints in the area:

Frodo's - I've been told they were pretty good at one time but quality has suffered - my family and I went to the Five Forks location about a year ago and the pizza barely was a step above the frozen brands - plus, they use canned mushrooms (gross) - well, the service was quick and efficient - 3/10

Barley's - I like this place - the downtown location has great ambiance and the service is quick - the pizza is very good with a great crust - I like this better than my wife does - 7/10

Bertolo's - I've only been to the new Simpsonville location (near Bi-Lo) - I had very high expectations for this pizza but it's just "good" - of course, better than the chains - they have fresh ingredients and a nice sauce - the service is usually quick - but, some of the teen staff get "confused" with multiple/complex orders (we've had 2 orders be completely wrong) - I guess I need to try their other locations - 6/10

Happy Pie - this has been the best pizza I've had in Greenville (although I've heard some mixed reviews) - wonderful crust - clean place (on Woodruff) - efficient service - a little expensive, though - 8/10

Mellow Mushroom - this is my wife's favorite - I enjoy their pizza and their crust is great - the wait can be long - of course, this is a chain - 7/10

Anthony's - on Fairview Road in Simpsonville - they're better than Bertolo's - tasty sauce, great crust - 7/10

I haven't been to Tito's, Tony's, Morretti's, or Pizza City. Will try these.

Any other place I can go to get a slice where "my knees will buckle"?

Thanks

Pizza City is the real deal. I'm surprised more people haven't commented on it yet, following my earlier suggestion. The facility appears somewhat insignificant from the outside and funky on the inside, but the food is simply wonderful. It is owned and operated by a family from NY.

Does the Whole Foods on Antrum/Pleasantburg have food?
