School closings

Making such a large decision that affects thousands of people should be based on much more than "but the schools might not close as often on the handful of days we have snow/ice" during the winter.

There's just too much involved, especially with school choice, taxes, drawing "fair" district lines , title 1 funds, etcetc.

I'd prefer to keep things the way they are.

Could you please elaborate? Would you say that bad areas would have better performing schools on their own if they had individual control of their own schools?
