My wife and I have a dream to relocate from Iowa to upcountry SC. I have uploaded my resume with a local staffing company but I feel it could really use a professional touch. Does it make sense to have someone from that area work it over to tailor it to careers with companies they are familiar with or to have someone here in Iowa prepare it?

Anyone here have firsthand experience with a resume writer in the upcountry area?

Thanks,
Jesse

Edited- it can't hurt. Having local staffing companies look at it is definitely a plus. I'm sure most are willing to help since they get paid when you get hired. Tailor to the position and company as much as possible is always good start, shows them you at least glanced at their website / job posting details.

Sorry I should have mentioned that, I have been working in high speed manufacturing since '03. I am a maintenance mechanic.

This is tricky, I have an Associates in Computer Networking as well. I would like 2 different resumes, one for the manufacturing jobs, and one to maybe get an entry level networking job and change careers altogether.

Computers do control aspects of machinery equipment. An associate degree in computer networking would be advantageous.

Are you looking to remain in manufacturing in a specialized information technology role, or are you seeking to expand your knowledge and skills in information technology?

TBH, I would REALLY prefer to change careers and get into the IT field. I make really good money here and that is what has kept me in the factory for almost 14 years but my children are grown now and I am tired of the rotating 12 hour shifts that include days and nights.

Also, I am not currently using my degree in any way, nor have I ever, I am a maintenance mechanic in a factory not in IT in a factory just to clarify.

Hi Jesse.
My name is Linda, and I've been a Certified Professional Resume Writer since 2007. I'd be happy to look at your current resume and offer suggestions.

We moved to Greenville from upstate New York about seven years ago, and it was the BEST decision we ever made! This is a fantastic place to work and play!
