Hi All!!! We just found out there is a good possibility we will be moving to Greenville! Trying not to freak out as it has been a long time since our last move. But we are wondering if there are any lakefront properties within a reasonable daily commute of Greenville. We would love to find a lakefront home.

Thanks!

Hi! Welcome to the forums. It depends on what you consider reasonable, but there are communities on Lake Robinson, which is north of Greenville, in Greer.

I was just going to suggest that. They could also venture out to Seneca. OP, when you say lakefront properties, do you want a large lake or a community lake? For a community lake, you can try Half Mile or Heritage Lakes. They offer lakefront properties.

Thanks for the input. We are trying to stay about 30 mins from Greenville. I also saw some homes near Anderson. Looks like about 25 miles...would that be reasonable with traffic? Any input on Anderson?

Lake Cunningham and Lake Robinson, both north of Greer; Saluda Lake west of Greenville; and Lake Lanier near Tryon would be the closest lakefront options in Greenville County.

The options mentioned above are all good; Saluda Lake could fall within your parameters but the others would be 40 minutes or longer.

Lake Bowen in Spartanburg County is not a bad commute.

The homes on Hartwell closest to I-85 are going to be right at your 30 minute limit. The commute wouldn't normally be terrible but the interstate does tend to be somewhat congested during commute times. It doesn't typically slow to a crawl but you may end up going 45 - 55 through a few stretches instead of the 70 at non-peak times. Some of the time factor would also depend on where you are working in Greenville. If that means Donaldson Center, it would likely fall within that window. If you're going to be working at BMW, then it would likely take more than 30 minutes to commute.

Lake Saluda and Lake Robinson mentioned above are smaller but would be closer to Greenville.
