Heritage Park has had numerous big acts so in my view that is evidence the venue is fine. I doubt Paul Simon, Bryan Adams, Darius Rucker, Mumford and Sons, John Fogerty of CCR, etc would play in a bush league venue.

Charlotte and Atlanta are much bigger metros with major airports and also have large universities.

Looking at Imagine Dragon's current tour locations, they are only playing in large metros.

https://www.imaginedragonsmusic.com/tour It doesn't appear they played in a single metro similar in size to Greenville. Same thing for Fallout Boy.

Good chance the Jason Aldean concert at the arena set for Oct. 21 will be cancelled or rescheduled. He was the singer on stage at the Las Vegas concert.

I'll say this.. You want to see a venue that plays to its strengths.. Now.. Not discounting the Peace Center.. I've been there for Book of Mormon and a Weird Al concert.. It's a fine venue.. But the Newberry Opera House.

That right there is a venue that has it going on.. You're not going to have top tier acts, but for being Newberry, which you talk about Greenville being between Atlanta and Charlotte.. Well, Newberry has to deal with that and being between Greenville and Columbia.. The acts they pull, and the fact that the venue is booked.. I'd say 300 days a year at least..

Take a look at the shows they have upcoming..

I've never been to a show there, but I've seen a number of shows that I wouldn't mind seeing. And prices seem to be pretty good as well. Most shows in the $20-$40 range.

There's a lot of factors at play regarding music acts in Greenville. Festivals are such a big thing these days and they normally have a clause in their contract that acts can't play within so many miles within a certain time frame of that festival. Add in that Asheville (a big music scene), Charlotte, and Atlanta are within easy driving distance adds to the problem. I've seen plenty of bands play in Asheville on the way to Charlotte or Atlanta. It's a much better city for concerts than Greenville.

David Byrne is coming to Asheville and Charlotte in May.

As usual, Greenville doesn't make the cut for this tour, either.

I think typically the more popular mainstream bands will come to Greenville but not Asheville, given Greenville is the larger metro. Some recent examples are Pearl Jam and Bon Jovi.

I don't see what the big deal is with occasionally driving to a nearby city for a concert if you truly are a fan of a band.

It looks like Foreigner/ White Snake are playing at the Heritage Park Amphitheater this summer but they are not playing in Asheville.

REO Speedwagon, Styx, and Don Felder (former guitarist for The Eagles) are playing at the Greenville arena but not in Asheville this spring.

I'm not trying to be combative. I've honestly never heard of him or them.
