We all know Downtown Main Street, Reedy Falls, Swamp Rabbit Trail, Paris Mountain State Park and Fluor Field. What are the places you take friends and family to so you can show off your home town and surrounding areas. Thanks for contributing, this may help all of us find new places to visit and explore.

Depending upon how much time we have, we spend a day downtown. The rest of the time is spent out in the country. There are so many places- Jones Gap, Caesar's Head, Whitewater Falls, plus smaller places, such as Campbell's Covered Bridge- the only one in SC. It's not far from where we live. There a number of vineyards up in the mountains, including Victoria in SC, and Burnt Shirt in NC. We have taken guests to Biltmore as well, but that's a good hour away.

Caesar's Head, Symmes Chapel ("Pretty Place") - both are amazing spots, especially with clear, cool weather; this area has the most concentration of waterfalls east of the Mississippi - check out ncwaterfalls.com - this is a great, regional website

Chimney Rock, a little over a hour away east of Hendersonville, is worth visiting.

I am surprised that the Cowpens National Battlefield, where the Americans won a decisive battle against the better-trained British Army during the Revolutionary War, gets overlooked. It was the only successful double envelopment in American history. The way to see the Cowpens battlefield is on foot along the Battlefield Trail, which is only about a mile long, partially paved, and flat and easy. You can walk the Battlefield Trail on your own or, if you are at the park at the right time, catch a tour with a ranger. https://www.nps.gov/cowp/index.htm

Another nearby Revolutionary War site is that of the Battle of Musgrove Mill near Cross Anchor. Natural features of the park include Horseshoe Falls and the Enoree River, along which much of the fighting took place. Others include Oconee Station State Historic Site, Historic Brattonsville, Walnut Grove Plantation and, of course, Kings Mountain National Military Park.

Also, one of Eldimila's links above mentioned Happy Cow Creamery, which I second. In addition, when I visited Happy Cow's fifteenth anniversary celebration last Saturday, I discovered City Scape Winery is just a couple of miles away. City Scape has some delightful wines and a cozy tasting room, and they feature Happy Cow products as well! https://cityscapewinery.com/
