Question Pickens?

I see a house on the market in Pickens with a gorgeous mountain view. But I wonder, would Pickens be a wise place for someone who doesn't know a living soul in SC to move to?

I'm thinking I might belong a bit closer to GV in a neighborhood with more people, but then, seeing that view every morning is pretty compelling.

Any comments are appreciated.

Thanks, but I'm not concerned with the weather. I'm thinking from a social standpoint..me, all alone on a mountain top with no neighbors? Does Pickens have a little town center?

Default Pickens

It depends on the location of the property. Yes, Pickens has a main street with some small shops and restaurants. There are also other towns around Pickens. If you would like more specific information I would need the location to help you. That way I could tell you the proximity to other locations.

It's Mountain View Drive. Thanks.

Default home in Pickens

I spoke with the listing agent on this home and she states that it is in a nice subdivision with nice homes around it. You would have neighbors but it is on a little over an acre lot so you would have privacy as well. Let me know if I can get you more information on the property.

I have lived in Pickens area for several years. In several of the subdivisions along the Highway 8 and Highway 11 area, there are many people in your particular situation. They have relocated here from places outside of South Carolina and love it.
If you are interested, we are about to move from Pickens to the lower part of the state. We have not listed our home yet. If you are interested I will be glad to e-mail you some photos.
As for the sociability, you will find people in this area to be very private but very friendly once you get to know them. In this area, attending a church would help you to meet people and build acquaintances.
