Well, I guess that takes care of that.

All I can add is Ashland Craft from Piedmont, who's a finalist on The Voice this season. Not Greenville but close.

Ashland was just eliminated from the competition tonight. Guess that takes care of that, too.

Charles Townes is the most unsung hero from the upstate. He showed JFK how to create NASA on the back of a napkin at lunch, invented the laser, won a Nobel Prize, passed away two years ago at age 99.

There is a statue of Townes located downtown.

Joel Roberts Poinsett also has a statue downtown.

He was the first United States Minister to Mexico, and Secretary of War under President Martin Van Buren.

He introduced the Christmas Eve flower, or Catarina to the United States after seeing it in Mexico which is why it is called the poinsettia in the US.

He helped to found the predecessor of the Smithsonian Institution.

His home in Greenville was called The Homestead. He died traveling to Greenville from Charleston.

One of Albert Einstein's sons, Hans, lived in Greenville. His 5 year old son died while he was in Greenville and he is buried in Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Ask LaFleur: Do you know about Albert Einstein's ties to Greenville?
