Default Transferring W/Publix to Spartanburg,Taylors,Greenville area

I'm a single male, 55 yrs old, looking to transfer to S.C. with Publix Supermarkets. I need to find a decent , quiet apt/duplex or room to rent in one of the areas listed above. My affordable rent is probably in the 400-500 range. I really need some advice as I only have a 4 day weekend in May to come up from florida and check out the areas. I don't need anything fancy , just well maintained, free of crime and quiet as I work early mornings. Thanks!

Default transfer

Are you going to be working at the Spartanburg Publix? If so, there are lots of nice duplexes very near to Publix. They are near Spartanburg High School,if you do a map search. These duplexes are in a quiet safe neighborhood. There is an apartment complex called Corners, which is nice and within your price range.

Thanks happyfeet. The Spartanburg store is an option. I was reading some comments on apts.com and was concerned because there were a lot of comments about crime in Spartanburg. It was my first choice but I balked when I read about the crime. I appreciate your feedback and will check out The Corners. This is why I have started my search so early. I just stumbled upon City Data.com and am glad I did. I have one question? Which area would you reccommend... Spartanburg, Taylors, Greeneville or Greer? ( All have Publix's )
Thanks! Harv

I use to live at the corners. Was there for a couple years. Decent place, never had any issues.

There is also a Publix in Mauldin. You can probably pull off the rent range here and Mauldin has low crime rates but crime does exist here. I'd love to find you at my Publix one day.

Hi harv061!

The best Publix in the Upstate is at Pelham Commons, in my opinion. The employees there are top notch and management clearly goes out of their way to ensure that they (the employees) and their customers are completely satisfied. I highly recommend speaking to management at that location if you decide to take a closer look at this area. There are several apartment complexes within short walking distance of the Pelham Commons shopping center.

The Greenville metro area (not including Anderson and Spartanburg) has several Publix locations and I am quite pleased with each of the stores I have shopped at. They are very clean and pleasant. While small, the new urban store downtown is great and very convenient.

Hi Skyliner! Thanks for the advice! It's greatly appreciated. Is Pelham Commons in Greenville? I have never been to the area, so I really don't have a clue to the names of the Shopping Centers or street names yet. I have two goals in mind. 1. I'm trying to find the closest store distance wise to my daughter in Maryland without leaving my company. Upstate S.C. seems to be the shortest distance. 2. I am going to need a quiet area and would like to live somewhere that I am not going to have to worry about the crime everyday. I really appreciate your help, and would be glad to hear from anyone else who could advise me about the area. I have been reading your posts about Greenville and must say, it sounds superb!!
thanks again,
Harv

yeah, the publix on pelham (pelham commons) by east north is my favorite and there are TONS of cheap, but safe apartments right there. We lived in Willowick, right next door to the publix, for six months, it was cheap and i never really felt unsafe.

I lived at North Slope apts. which is about 30 seconds from the publix at Pelham and never had issues living there. I lived there for a couple years.
