Some scientists in Europe are predicting a Little Ice is coming soon due to reduced radiant heat output from the sun, between the years 2020 and 2050.

A "winter bomb cyclone" for the coast up to the northeast. Is this a new dramatic term the Weather Channel has come up with? Never heard of that one. They used to be called 'Noreasters". Guess that wasn't dramatic enough for big TV ratings.

You know, like in "The Day After Tomorrow"! The world is going to end under many FEET of snow and ice! Seriously, I couldnt find a reference to it older than 14 hours, but its suppose to ne like a winter hurricane.

"Bombogenesis" is where a storms central pressure (the lowest air pressure point is where they put the big red "L" on a weather map, highest pressure is big blue "H") drops 24+ millibars(mb) in 24 hours or less. ie: rapidly intensifies. Media likes click-bait terms. It's still a nor-easter. Unlike a hurricane the winds will be more spread out and not tight around central point so thats why blizzard warnings from NC up into New England with the winds. It's an amazing storm with a lot of moving peices to create it. But the Weather Channel does make up its own winter storm names, not official.

Edit: Saw on my social feed that if pressure drops 40+mb in 24 hours "then it'd be in the Top 5% of all rapidly intensifying extratropical cyclones". (Rapid strengthening)

Hoping to jinx this one away...small window for some wintry mix / freezing rain (the bad ice) early Monday. Precipitation amounts look lite (for now), so no ice storm at this time. But with how cold its been it won't take much of anything to cause road problems should we get anything..no real ground warmth to keep road issues at bay.

Reminder: Freezing rain fools many because its just regular rain...it just happens to freeze on contact with surfaces. If 32degrees or below and raining assume there's ice.
