The SC Criminal Justice Academy is in Columbia, about 1.5-2 hours away and would be very good training for your son. I also believe it would be a lot easier to get a job in law enforcement after graduating from the academy.

Update: After I looked at the requirements you have to already be employed in law enforcement in order to attend. He may also look into working for American Security http://www.trustamericansecurity.com which is not the same as law enforcement, but may be a part time opportunity.

No they aren't. That's an opinion. I'm of color and not conservative and still don't care for that hippie vibe. The Greenville metro has around 900k people. There are different beliefs amongst those. You can't make generalizations for almost 1 million people. Smh.

There are religious people in Asheville. There are non-religious people in Greenville. That's the truth.

I don't think the comments about 'hippies' were related to religion.

I also think you conflate religion with politics. A person can vote 'red' and not be religious.
Yep. I just explained it. I'm not even religious myself. I love Greenville.

Greenville Co was R over D 59% to 35%. Buncombe Co was 54% D to 40% R. That's a significant difference in population make up and beliefs.

I also don't go to church.

Some people on here kind of make Greenville out as the community in the movie Footloose where rock n roll music and dancing were banned.

The OP was asking about things to do for her son. So why are you talking about religion and politics and what kind of shoes people wear?

There are 500k people in Greenville County. More than Asheville's whole metro area. That 35 may be more people than there is in all of Buncombe County. Who cares about politics anyways. Most people don't show their political beliefs. I don't claim any.

The population of Buncombe County is around 260k. So there are actually more Democrats in Greenville County based on the raw number. 140k Dems compared to Greenville County's 175k. Hmm.

Yes, I've made this point before on here. I think raw numbers are better for comparisons than percentages.
