Deepblue38,
Thank you for this summary of your discoveries while visiting Greenville! It is always nice to hear from visitors and newcomers who reinforce everything we try to adequately describe about this wonderful place. Your words are likely to mean far more to other inquisitive individuals seeking information about the Greenville area than our words ever will. Thank you once again for taking the time to share your first-hand experience here.

This person is the type I don't want living here. Along with that "not liking northerners" usually comes other prejudices. This is why the south has such a bad name. A lot of people still equate it with racism and being backwards. I'm glad Greenville is a progressive city for the most part.

Not sure where I said anything rude.
see how nice this place is when it's a big city. I suppose people who move here only see a restaurant or office building in an open field or woods.
I'm guessing any liberals coming here would be glad if it wasn't southern because of the conservative(I'm mean technically it's true usually) stereotype that goes along with the South. I'm not even thinking politically.

Where are you from?
Excuse me, but I'm not a racist.
Guess what, one of parents is from the North!

I'm originally from Greenwood. The reason I left is lack of everything. I don't hate it for that, but I realized that if I didn't like what was going on I had to move and Greenville wasn't too far away and I love it. I'm not trying to bust your head or nothing, but times change and nothing ever stays the same. Boards like this are usually full of urban enthusiast like myself who like all of this stuff. The only thing I would like to see with the growth is better roads and mass transit.

I don't know. Isn't there are Northern and a Southern part? not just geographically.

So I guess cities like Charleston, New Orleans, Richmond, Birmingham, etc. weren't "Southern" by your standards since they were considered big cities in their heydays?
Southern does NOT automatically equate to rural. If so, you could call practically the entire state of Montana "Southern."
