My wife and I visited last september, and we loved it. We never felt that we were not welcome, just the opposite really. We wanted to move there but I was unsure of locating a job. I am a Moldmaker by trade. We loved our time there and would welcome a chance to come back.

My wife and I just got back to Orlando from visiting. We stayed in Lake Lure, NC and traveled down to Greenville two days and also went to Fort Mill/Rock Hill area. We decided that we would move forward at investigating the Greenville area instead of Fort Mill. We really liked the Mauldin/Simpsonville area. Rested Traveler had me really excited about the Travelers Rest area, but we wanted more suburban than Rural. We both loved the area and felt very welcomed. I really do believe that southern hospitality does exist. (Don't worry guestposter, we will asimilate and follow the traditions of the south.) Every neighborhood we went through people would wave and even would go out of their way to help us. I found that everybody we encountered was more than helpfull and very friendly. Not once did I feel unwanted. This is the exact oposite of Orlando. I just wish we could move sooner. Good luck!

Most people do like the Simpsonville/Mauldin areas, which is why they are two of the predominant growth areas in Greater Greenville. My family and I live in this area, and I love the convenience to all the shopping and restaurants. I still don't feel like I'm in the city, but we're still close enough, and able to get to Falls Park in 20 minutes or less.

My husband and I visited Greenville and loved it! I grew up in the city and he grew up in the country, so we compromise and live in the suburbs. We haven't had a chance to see Simpsonville and Mauldin yet, but it sounds nice.
I'm growing less and less fond of the Atlanta area and since business is bad now we may cut our losses and go ahead and move sooner rather than later.
Can you tell me what you like about your area and why you think an "outsider" would like it? ( pretend you work for the Chamber of Commerce!) Thanks!

I personally like living in Simpsonville (off of Woodruff Road near Five Forks Road), simply because it is growing, and I'm close to more shopping and restaurants than I could ever possibly visit. People always laugh at me when I say that, but seriously, right when I think I'm close to having visited all of the restaurants, I say, "oh, that's a new one, when did that open?" As for shopping, I'm only 7 minutes from the Shops at Greenridge, 9 minutes from the future Magnolia Park complex, 12 minutes from Verdae Blvd/Laurens Rd (and the future Verdae Development), 15 minutes from Fairview Road, 15 minutes from Haywood Mall and Haywood Road, and 18 minutes from downtown Greenville (and I don't have to pay city taxes).
I can only speak for the two neighborhoods I've lived in around the Simpsonville/Mauldin areas, but both have been extremely welcoming, and full of activities. My old neighborhood had activities such as an Easter Egg Hunt, Pool Parties (one for kids, another for adults), etc. My new neighborhood, I couldn't even begin to list the social activities (34 last calendar year), and they helped us meet new neighbors, find new playmates for my son, etc. I just love it.
I guess I'm also fond of the Simpsonville/Mauldin area because about 53% of my business is done in this area, so that's convenient.

LOL, that is a great idea. Probably the "I hate people message board" along with my boss.

We "Northerners" are not indifferent to insults. And if you are comparing friendliness, clearly YOU all have that one down.
