If Target had a store near Cherrydale, I could see Walmart responding with a Walmart Supercenter. Walmart has no competition north of Greenville. It would be counterproductive to compete against itself with another store. Why bother with opening another store?
Target has really missed out on a lot of opportunity in this market. Stores in the Cherrydale and Easley or Powdersville areas would likely be successful.
Target missed out on additional store location opportunities indeed. I wonder if Target wants to operate a quantity of quality stores, or if its real estate unit was not aggressive in securing additional store location sites over ten years ago.

Looks like they would consider adding a Super Target with a larger grocery segment.

I don't think they are building those anymore. I only see one at 120,000 sq. ft (normal size) and the rest less than 100,000. Smaller stores are a trend that is catching on in retail. Kohl's is doing the same thing.

Yeah Target is focusing more on City Targets and P-Fresh normal Targets right now. They aren't building very many SuperTargets anymore.
